A "Solar PV" systems, properly known as 'solar photovoltaic systems' but more commonly known as 'solar panels,' require both a building permit and an electrical permit. Plan review of these systems looks at the structural components as well as flow of electricity. Therefore, structural plans should be submitted with a General Building Permit Application, and the electric plans with an Electrical Permit Application. Because the State of Colorado has special rules on Solar PV permitting, we ask that you submit both the structural and electrical plans at the same time, alongside both permit applications and a completed plan submittal requirement checklist. If you have questions on this requirement, please call the Community Development Department at 303-783-2721.
A plan review fee of $340 is required for all Solar PV projects. Payment is accepted via Xpress Bill Pay. Once your payment has been processed, enter your name and the Transaction Number of your payment in the fields below.
