[ARCHIVED] Jury Duty Scam

Jury Duty Scam

The Cherry Hills Village Police Department has been notified of a new scam that is occurring in the City. Several residents recently reported they received telephone calls from someone posing as an employee from the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office seeking payment for missing jury duty. The fraudulent caller will ask you to pay the fine by purchasing a gift card, and then call them back with the active card information.

Please be advised that neither the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office, nor the Cherry Hills Village Police Department will ever call anyone asking for payment of a fine on missing jury duty, and will never ask for payment by using a gift or debit card. These fraudsters may sound or seem legitimate by using spoofed government numbers, or law enforcement staff names. If you receive a call you think is a potential scam, we recommend you hang-up and contact your local law enforcement agency to determine if the call was fraudulent.
