The Colorado Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has added a voluntary way to include emergency contact information on your Colorado Driver Record. DMV will only share this emergency contact information with law enforcement / rescue in the case of an emergency.
Consent Release
Review the following statement from the DMV website referencing who may receive the information and under what circumstances:
"By clicking continue below, I am giving my consent for the Department of Revenue to release this information to an authorized officer of a law enforcement or public safety agency only in the event of my injury or death as a result of an accident, criminal act, or other emergency situation pursuant to Colorado Revised Statute 42-2-121.5."
If you are interested, you may visit the DMV website. You will need your driver's license number and the name and phone number of your emergency contact(s) (you can add 2). You may also include address information for your contacts, although it is not required.
