Seasonal Streets Maintenance Workers

We are looking for a Seasonal Streets Maintenance Worker to join our team in the Streets Division of the Public Works Department. This position is responsible for a variety of duties related to streets maintenance. Streets Maintenance crew operates light equipment and power tools in the maintenance of City properties, right-of-ways, streets, parks, open space, and facilities. The City places a lot of emphasis on safety in the workplace. The pay rate for this position is $11.50- $12.50 per hour. City operations are currently located at 2450 E Quincy Ave, Englewood but will be moving to 2101 W Quincy Ave, Englewood.

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists the Streets crew with a variety of public works projects including pothole repairs, concrete repairs, culvert installation, cleaning storm sewer inlets, sign repairs, etc.
  • Operates a variety of tools and light equipment such as mowers, tractors, rollers, small dump trucks, chain saws, weed eaters, plate compactors, jack hammers, push mowers, spraying equipment, single axle trucks, and 2 way radios.
  • Services and maintains equipment and tools.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Must be 17 years of age.
  • Satisfactory driving record is required for employment.
  • Basic knowledge of general work hazards, safety procedures and public safety matters.
  • Tasks require some skills in the use of light equipment and power tools while maintaining constant attention to safety in order to prevent accidents.
  • Must be able to tolerate a variety weather conditions which may include wet, humid, snowy, sunny, very hot or very cold conditions (depending upon start and end dates).

Seasonal Parks Maintenance Workers

We are looking for a Seasonal Parks Maintenance Worker to join our team in the Parks Division of the Public Works Department. This position is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of City parks and trails. Parks Maintenance crew provides specialized care for the City’s parks, open space, trails and related facilities. The City places a lot of emphasis on safety in the workplace. The pay rate for this position is $11.50- $12.50 per hour. City operations are currently located at 2450 E Quincy Ave, Englewood but will be moving to 2101 W Quincy Ave, Englewood.

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining grounds and turf in all parks, trails, and street right of ways and City facilities by mowing, trimming, weeding and grooming.
  • Maintaining designated landscape effects through pruning, mowing and cleaning debris.
  • Planting trees, shrubs, and plants as required and maintaining existing landscaped areas.
  • Maintaining parks and other facilities by collecting and disposing of debris, cleaning, hauling garbage, and other park upkeep and repair.

Heavy Equipment Operator

We are looking for a Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team in the Streets Division of the Public Works Department. This position is responsible for construction and maintenance of City streets and right-of-way. This position operates a wide variety of equipment and vehicles, specialized machinery and tools while keeping constant attention to safety. The City encourages personal and professional growth through the means of attending trainings, seminars and conferences as well as offering a tuition reimbursement program. The City offers a great benefit package including health insurance, life insurance, long term and short term disability, retirement options, paid time off, overtime, and on-call pay. The 2017 salary range is $45,861 - $62,708 with new hires usually starting near the lower end of the range. City operations are currently located at 2450 E Quincy Ave, Englewood but will be moving to 2101 W Quincy Ave, Englewood.

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining and repairing streets, including digging out old damaged asphalt, shoveling asphalt, patching potholes and street cuts with asphalt hot-mix.
  • Performing street overlay and crack-seal operations, making concrete repairs on curbs, gutters and drainage structures, and placing and finishing concrete and gravel.
  • Ensuring that streets and sidewalks are clear, including plowing snow, sanding streets, and sweeping streets, gutters, and sidewalks.
  • The position reports to the Streets Operation Supervisor and Director of Public Works. May take direction from the Right-of-Way/Project Manager.
  • Position is intricate to City’s overall customer service provided to residents of Cherry Hills Village by providing maintenance to City roads.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Three years of related experience with equipment.
  • Class B CDL required.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and relevant job experience may be substituted.
  • Satisfactory driving record is required for employment.
  • Experience with motor graders and asphalt pavers preferred.
  • Ability to perform manual labor including but not limited to shoveling and raking dirt, asphalt and other materials.
  • Must be able to tolerate a variety weather conditions which may include wet, humid, snowy, sunny, very hot or very cold conditions.
