City Council

 
Article III of the City of Cherry Hills Village Charter establishes the roles and duties of the City Council. The City Council consists of six (6) members and the mayor. Each Council member represents one of the six (6) districts of the City. The Council is empowered to "…enact and provide for the enforcement of all ordinances necessary to protect life, health and property; to declare, prevent and summarily abate and remove nuisances; to preserve and enforce good government, general welfare, order and security of the City and the inhabitants thereof; to provide for the granting of probation and the conditional suspension of sentences by the Municipal Court; and to delegate to boards and commissions…such functions, powers and authority as proper and advisable.”
 
 

 

Mayor - Laura Christman

Laura Christman was elected Mayor in November of 2014 and commenced her term in January of 2015.  Mayor Christman, a twenty five year resident of the Village, practiced law for more than thirty five years specializing in corporate real estate, finance and development.  She received a BA in Economics from The Colorado College and her JD from The College of William and Mary.

Randy Weil was a senior executive over a 30 year period at Cummins, Inc., Square D Company, AT&T, NCR, and IHS, Inc.  For the past ten years, he owned a manufacturing company, Unique Industries, and commercial real estate. He has an MBA from Berkeley.  He is actively involved in St. Mary’s Academy, where both his children, Alex and Aaron, graduated.  Interests include: skiing, singing, hiking, and travel.  He is married to Susan and moved to Cherry Hills Village in 2010.
 

District 2 - Earl Hoellen (Mayor Pro Tem)

Earl Hoellen, a twenty year resident of the Village, spent over thirty years as an executive in the nuclear power and energy trading industries.  He earned a BS in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Virginia, an MBA from the University of North Carolina, and a JD from the University of Denver.
 

District 3 – Al Blum

Al Blum is the former vice chair of the Village's Planning and Zoning Commission on which he served for 3 years.  Mr. Blum holds bachelor degrees from the University of Colorado and a JD degree along with a Masters in Laws degree from the University of Denver, and has an inactive CPA license.  He is currently CEO of a homebuilding company and general counsel to a real estate development company.  He and his wife Bonnie have residents of the Village since 1995. 
 

District 4 – Mike Gallagher

Mike Gallagher, a previous member of the Parks, Trails and Recreation Commission, has long-time connections with the Village. He grew up in Cherry Hills and returned in 1988 to live here. He and his wife Ann raised three children who graduated from Cherry Creek High School. Since 2000, he has owned and operated Colorado Insurors Service, Inc., an independent insurance agency. 
 

District 5 - Dan Sheldon

 Dan Sheldon has lived in the Village since 2007.  He is 3rd generation Denver real estate developer.  He is the past president of various HOAs as well as a past and current board member on numerous metropolitan districts.  He has a degree from the University of Colorado in political science.  Dan enjoys skiing, hunting, fishing and traveling.  He is married with two children.
 

District 6 - Katy Brown

Katy Brown is the former Chair of the Village’s Parks Trails and Recreation Commission, a Commission on which she served for the past four years.  Ms. Brown, who holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, has resided in Cherry Hills Village for eight years.  She is the founder and president of Visionary Consulting, a small web development company blending technology, creativity and strategy to create powerful web sites.  Ms. Brown is heavily involved in a number of nonprofit organizations on the state and national levels.  She is married and has two small children.
